This proposal for a standalone pool house and wellness centre sits within the estate of the 18th century Benarth Hall. The design is driven by taking advantage of the view towards the estuary of the river Conwy, while concealing the building from the adjoining property. Partially submerged into the hillside the building is of two sides: a low stone wall and landscaped roof when viewed from the access road and an extensive glazed façade with views to the landscape.

In plan the modest rectangular is bound by glazed wall that creates internal and external poolside terraces. The primary structure is conceived of single spanning timber grid, with a low flat roof that is inflected to encourage solar gains and expansive views.  Locally sourced materials are envisaged to form the stone walls and mass timber roof structure. A high sustainability and low energy approach through a highly engineered approach is planned to, minimise the operational and embodied impact of the building.
